A Trip Down The Wabash River
here's a few pictures to tell ya a lil about our trip...
saturday morning 6 of us and all our gear pulled out of our drive with our train...

... heading for the wabash river in lafayette...

... by 11:30 ol' yeller was in the water and ready to sail...

... the first view of the river....
... since the water level was low the first part of the trip we hit bottom quite often which ment at least a few of us had to bail off and pull us the pontoon through the shallow stuff...

... slave leon and slave master glen...

... our depth finder russ...

...sara enjoying lunch on the river...

... one of the many bridges we went under...
... about 6:30 we found a beach area along the river and set up camp for the evenin...

... theres nothin quite compared to sleeping under the stars...

... ol' yeller and jr settled in for the night...

... this picture hardly even comes close to graspin the beautiful sunrise sunday mornin...
... after breakfast we loaded back up and were heading down the river by bout 8:30...

.. sara doin what she does best...

... russ playing around on the jet ski...

... its good to have a mechanic along that can keep their balance to float and work at the same time..
... the cooling line (i think i know what i'm talkin about here) got plugged with sand from running the jet ski in water that was a lil too shallow... fortunately they were able to fix the problem...

... and some more beautiful scenery (minus the fishing pole :) along the way...

... very flexible marnell...
... i've heard stories of fish jumping into ppl's boats but never really believed em til this trip... it wasn't too far into the trip when we first started seeing em jump out of the water but the further we got the more "darin" they got... until on decided sara looked a lil bored...

... and he came sailing over the edge and we're not sure how this all happened but sara was standin on top of the storage box and this huge carp was in her chair!! ... i'll just say every time a fish jumped, srar jumped also!!
... it was a lil later sunday even til we stopped because we needed to reach a certain point so we could meet up with norrell...

... cleanin up the campsite before hittin the river again by 9...

... another mode of find the depth to know which side of the island to go on...

... one of the few captains...
...we reach terre haute about 3 monday afternoon...

... loadin up ol' yeller...

... the train all put back together and ready to head back home...

... our last view of the river :(

... and the first view of our next trip : )
... once we finally got everythin loaded up the stinky (i'm sure we had to stink) river rats headed for home... after an interesting trip we made it home bout 9 and got everythin unpacked and took a long hot shower that felt wonderful... i headed to bed to oversleep the this mornin :(
... anyways... it was an adventure that was well worth while even though we really didn't have much of a clue about what we were doin and i'd go back and do it again if i had the chance.
... a few tidbits from the trip:
- if you have too many 13 mil. wrenches, just through a few in the river
- you crack your knuckles cause theres air in em
- blowing your nose can have more than one meaning
- it's kinda fun bein rednecks
- swappin ppl from the boat to the jet ski can be done while both are still movin
- if your phone doesn't work, dump salt in it... it just might revive it
... more may be added later but i'm too tired to think right now, so i hope you've got a glimpse (barely a glimpse) of the fun we had... well i've got to get my laundry out of the dryer and i'm heading to bed!!!
